2nd ANNUAL DANISH FILM FEST : LA
CELEBRATES 100 YEARS OF DANISH CINEMA

"The Passion of Joan of Arc" to open Festival
Los Angeles, CA - The Danish Film Fest : LA returns to Los Angeles October 4-11 to celebrate the richness of the Danish storytelling tradition, as well as expose the culture's unique Nordic lifestyle to an international audience, it was announced by Festival Founders and filmmakers Lene Pels Jørgensen and Christian Ditlev Bruun.  
Presented by the Scandinavian American Arts Foundation and the National Film School of Denmark in collaboration with The Danish Trade Commission in LA, American Cinematheque, The Danish Film Institute & Oresund Film Commission, this year's event will commemorate 100 years of Danish cinema and culture, while fostering relationships between Danish and US businesses. His Royal Highness Prince Joachim of Denmark will serve as the Official Patron of the festival.

DK FILM FEST : LA 2007 and Danish Film Expo are co-finanzed by the Trade Council of Denmark

The festival will open on Thursday, October 4th with a screening of Carl Theodor Dreyer's 1928 "La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc" accompanied by a new score. The evening is co-presented with the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theater.

In conjunction with the Danish Film Fest : LA, a Danish Film EXPO on Post Production, co-presented by The Danish
Trade Commission, Oresund Film Commission and The National Danish Film School will showcase the high quality and competitiveness of Danish industry, and technological advancement as well as a platform for product placement showcasing Danish products to the US film, TV and commercial companies.

The program will offer audiences the chance to view award winning and classic Danish films from the last century such as "Hunger" by Henning Carlsen. In addition audiences can enjoy a retrospective of the latest James Bond villain, Mads Mikkelsen; the most recent work from Lars von Triers, "The Boss of it All;" award winning documentaries and animation; and Q&A sessions with filmmakers.   In a partnership with the National Danish Film School Continuing Education Division, the Festival will also feature prominent film professionals teaching Master Classes on a variety of topics.
